Vacuum cupping

Cupping massage: suction lifts the tissue, drives circulation and releases deep knots.

Vacuum cupping massage of the collar zone

The treatment creates negative pressure on the skin: the cup gently lifts the skin and the tissue beneath it, drawing blood into the area. Moving the cups across the body makes it a vacuum massage; leaving them in place is static cupping.

Round marks of varying intensity may remain afterwards. That is a normal tissue response which fades within a few days — not bruising from injury.

Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions

Why does cupping leave marks?

Negative pressure draws blood into the area and some red blood cells pass into the tissue, which is what produces the round marks. They fade within days, and their intensity says nothing about how good the session was.

Is cupping massage painful?

The sensation is intense but should not be painful. Suction strength is set individually — tell the therapist immediately if anything feels uncomfortable.

Who should not have cupping?

Bleeding disorders, thrombophlebitis, severe cardiovascular disease, cancer, acute inflammation, damaged skin, and pregnancy. The final decision rests with the center’s doctor.
